A coach full of young athletes from Law & District AAC made their way to the David Keswick Centre, Dumfries for the Nithsdale Open-graded event on Sunday 5th April. The first outdoor track & field competition is always a popular and well attended event and is an excellent starter for the season, with medals awarded to the 1st three positions in all disciplines.

A total of 32 medals, 11 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze were won, with some personal best and fine performances from all the competitors from the club. The sprinters were first to medal with Darren Daly U13 taking two golds in 100m (13.4)secs.and 200m (28.1) followed by Laura Livesey U17 100m 2nd (12.8), 200m 2nd (26.7), Kirstie McLeod U20 100m 3rd (13.6), 200m 2nd (28.00), Dougie Frame U17 300m 2nd (38.8), 200m 3rd (24.6), 100m 4th (12.1), Stephen Murphy U13 100m 3rd (14.9), 200m 3rd (31.1), Chelcie Dalziel U17 300m 2nd (44.6),100m 4th (12.9) and Emily McNicol U11 80m 3rd (13.4).

First places also went to Nadene Traynor U13 800m (2.36.)mins, Ross Hill U15 800m (2.17), Jonathan Velu U17 800m (2.09), Pamela McNicol U13 1500m (5.41) and Gary Grieve Sen. 1500m (4.14). Second places to Connor Thomson U13 800m (2.43), Reagan Binnie U11 600m (1.59), Rory McLaughlan U13 1500m (5.22) and Sherelle Graham U15 1500m (5.28), with 3rd positions for Christopher Boyle U13 800m (2.46) and Anya Towers U13 1500m (6.04).

The medallists in the Field Events were Connor Thomson U13 Long Jump 1st (3.69)mtrs, Anya Towers U13 High Jump 1st (1.30), Rory McLaughlan U13 High Jump 1st (1.30), Thomas Lafferty U17 Javelin 1st (38.42), Stephen Murphy U13 Javelin 2nd (12.11) 3rd places went to Calum Lindsay U15 and Daniel Graham U17 both in High Jump (1.35), and chelcie Dalziel U17 and Aimee Gray U15 in Shot Putt (6.94) and (6.69) respectively.

Medals were narrowly missed by Lynn Livesey U17 200m 4th (27.3) and 100m 5th (13.1), Emma Bhatti U17 Shot Putt 4th (6.93) and 300m 5th (47.1), Nadene Traynor U13 200m 4th (30.3), Connor Thomson U13 100m 4th (15.0), Adam Boyle 4th (25.0) and Reagan Binnie 4th (24.3) U11 150m, Jamie Cubis U15 Shot Putt 4th, Daniel Graham U17 Long Jump 4th, and Emily McNicol U11 600m 4th (2.12), Long Jump 6th.

An excellent day was had by all the young athletes representing the club with the following concluding the results for the day:-
