On a glorious Easter Sunday Morning 12th April at 11a.m. approximately 350 competitors descended on Strathclyde Park for the 47th 10 mile Tom Scott Annual Memorial Races, incorporating the Stewarts Road Race, Grand Prix Event Race 2. With a record number of 341 entries altogether, 253 for the Tom Scott and 88 for the 6K Round the Loch Race it confirmed the respect and honour this event held. In the 10 mile race 218 entrants completed the All Competitors Category. A New Course Record of 49.24mins. was set by Tsegezeah Woldemichael of Shettleston Harriers winning the race for the 2nd consecutive year who ran alongside his team mate Mengisteah Tewoldcebrhan,who claimed 2nd place, with Stephen Wylie, Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers running closely behind into 3rd place. Paul Thomson retained the Jackie Gourlay Shield, being the 1st Vet +50 for the 2nd consecutive year. The second New Course Record of the day was set by Toni McIntosh of Ayr Seaforth being the first lady home in 57.15 minutes. The main prizewinners in the Tom Scott Race are as follows :- Tom Scott Trophy (1st Individual) - Tsegezeah Woldemichael 49.24 Shettleston H. The 6K Round the Loch Race included the inaugral Robin Barbour Trophy to be awarded to the 1st individual 6K race winner, this was presented to Stephen Matthews, East Kilbride AAC completing the race in 19.21 minutes. Prizewinners for the 6K Race :- Gents' Race Winner - Stephen Matthews 19.21 East Kilbride AAC First home for Law & District in the Tom Scott Race was Gary Grieve (Sen.M) 27th place in 57.56mins. James Rowley (vet+60) 81st, William Scoular (Vet +55) and Chris Barbour (Vet+50) 166th. Nicola Lindsay was 3rd Lady in the 6K Race with Jonathan Velu, Daniel Graham and Jim Wellcoat being the Gents' Team Winners. Law & District AAC, who organise the event would like to thank Mrs H. Kelly for presenting the prizes: Tunnocks and Carluke Co-op for assisting in sponsoring the event: All Officials, Stewards, Strathclyde Community Police, St Andrews First-Aid and Strathclyde Park staff for ensuring another successful day. A special mention to the Barbour family for their donation of "The Robin Barbour Trophy".
