CLOSED SCOTTISH AGE-GROUP CHAMPS REPORT 15 MAY 2010


Eleven athletes from Law & District Amateur Athletic Club represented the club at the Bank of Scotland Age-Group Closed Scottish Championships, which were held on 15th May at Wishaw Sports Centre.
Three athletes won medals with excellent performances from all three. Craig Wellcoat continued with his current good form when he added another Honours to his ever growing list of achievements, claiming the Gold Medal in U17 1500m in 4.13.07 minutes. In the U17 300m hurdles Julie Dobbin ran an extremely well PB time of 46.67 secs earning her the Silver Medal and Stuart McLuckie also won Silver in the U15 800m in a time of 2.08.81mins.
Just missing out in medal winning performances were Kevin McGhee coming 4th in both the U17 100m and Long Jump, 12.52secs and 6.06mtrs respectively. Cameron McCann came 4th in U17 800m in 2.05.63mins while Christopher Watson in U17 1500m 4.17.23mins also came home in 4th place. Very good efforts in the U15 800m came from Calum Lindsay when he ran really well in his heat into 3rd place in 2.14.03, earning him a place in the final where he came 6th, Alice McGrath also running really fast in her heat in 1st place in 2.27.50, going onto an 8th place finish in the final.
Brother and sister Daniel and Sherelle Graham both competed in the 1500m, with Daniel coming 12th in the U17 race in 4.31.27mins and Sherelle 11th in U15, 5.36.57mins. Lewis Nicholson competed in three U17 events, the 100m 6th in heat 2 12.77secs, the shot putt 11.00mtrs and the hammer 23.56mtrs, where he came 4th in both.
