Tom Scott Memorial 10mile Road Race - 11/04/2010

Law & District AAC are delighted to announce that they have once again been granted a permit by SAL to host one of Scotlands premier Road Racing events.

Runners of all abilities are therefore invited to come along to Strathclyde Park in Motherwell on Sunday 11th April 2010 to take part in The 48th Annual Tom Scott Road Races. The main race of the day - The 48th Tom Scott Memorial 10M Road Race - is run to perpetuate the memory to a very fine athlete from Law Village who was unfortunately killed in a motoring accident while on his way to take part in an athletic event in England.

The above event is one of the major 10Mile Road Races in Scotland and attracts entries from all parts of the country. The popularity of this "Historic Race" has been further enhanced by it being included as the only 10 Mile Race in the "Stewarts Grand Prix Series of Road Races". The Scottish Veteran Harriers & the West District Road Racing Commission have once again decided to hold their closed 10 Mile Championship events within the main race thereby ensuring a large number of competitors.

For those runners who feel that a 10 mile championship evnt is not for them, they will be glad to know that a 6K (3.75 miles) - Round the Loch race will once again be incorporated within the main race. Since its inception in 2006 this race has grown in popularity & with almost 100 runners in last year's race it would now appear to becoming a permanent feature in the Scottish Road Racing calendar. To encourage younger runners to compete in this race it has been decided, that prizes will be awarded, to first male & female competitors who are under 20 & 17 years of age on race day.
