Event Description

We are excited to advise SUPERteams is BACK!!

This time it's a virtual SuperTEAMS and all club members from age 9yrs can take part. However, only athletes in the U12 age group (date of birth between 01/09/2008 –14/06/2011) will be scored on Scottish Athletics National team Leaderboard, all other athletes will be scored in-house.

As in the traditional SUPERteams events, teams will be made up of four athletes whose individual scores will be combined to give a team total. In the Virtual event, the top four scorers from a club will form its ‘A’ team, the next four the ‘B’ team, and so on.

Also, all athletes taking part in the Virtual SUPERteams Challenge must be up-to-date members of scottishathletics on 14th June 2020 so please ensure your membership is up to date when you register for the challenge.

The events to be competed are 75m sprint, 800m, standing long jump, target throw and will be held over a four week period, with one event being completed each week. Athletes can make as many attempts at each event as they wish during the week period to allow for practice and then record their best score with our Team Manager, Darran Muir (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). A separate google form for results will be issued at the beginning of each week;

•Week 1 –Monday 18th–Sunday 24th May - 75m shuttle run
•Week 2 –Monday 25th–Sunday 31st May - Target Throw
•Week 3 –Monday 1st–Sunday 7th June - Standing Long Jump
•Week 4 –Monday 8th–Sunday 14th June - 800m

Details will be emailed to all entrants on the Saturday before each event with a description of how to prepare for your event, how to carry out the event and what equipment will be needed ie tape measure, stop watch etc.

The Virtual SUPERteams Challenge is designed to be completed at or close to home and does not require any specific athletics equipment. The sprint, throw and jump elements of the challenge should be carried out in the home or garden using household objects; and the 800m run under the close supervision of a responsible adult from within the same household.
